Prior to conducting the rural camp, letters of information were sent to the camps and some letters were e-mailed to the camp in-charges. Along with the letters, SMS were sent to the organisations conducting the camp. A data sheet too was attached with the letter seeking suitable dates, number of students and other information regarding the camp. Some camps were telephonically informed about the camp too. After permission was obtained from the organisations, information was either gathered by reply to the e-mail or mailed back to the Institution. The Staff-in-charges and students discussed about the dates and students were allotted a camp in a lecture period.

The Staff-in-charges were updated regarding the organisations requirements of the camp. A certificate was given to each student on completion of the rural camp. An assembly slot was given to each group to share their reflections of the rural camp. The students were asked to write down the reflections regarding the rural camp each day on sheets of paper on a format given to the students by the Institution. The students during the assembly slot reflected positively towards the Rural Internship and had an enriching experience which they will cherish for a long time.

Rural camp was an inseparable activity of SXIE. As in the previous year, the institution gave the opportunity to the first year students to visit the various rural camp centres to experience the rural setup. The rural camp was scheduled from 5th to 9th December, 2016. The students were divided into three groups which were Ashaghad, Tara and Uplat.  Students visited and stayed there for a week to understand the socio cultural and economic context of the rural people. Various subjects such as English, History, Maths and Science were taught to the students belonging to that area.

Visit to community Centres - This academic year as a part of the co-curricular activities, the students visited various community centres that included Home for the aged and Home for the disadvantaged.
